Hope in Action: Psychosocial and Spiritual Support for Earthquake Survivors

As part of its continuing mission, the Psycho-Social Care and Support Activity was conducted in Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental, providing care for survivors of the Mindanao earthquake. The activity was facilitated by volunteer counselors from the Redemptorist communities of the Vice Province of Manila and the Province of Cebu to help survivors process trauma, grief, anxiety, and emotional distress.

The activity concluded with the celebration of the Holy Mass, presided over by Fr. Richie Cuaton, C.Ss.R., with Fr. Jose de la Cruz, C.Ss.R. as concelebrant, offering prayers for healing, strength, and renewed hope for all affected families.

In addition to psychosocial and spiritual support, essential assistance was distributed to adults, youth, and children, including:

  • Food packs
  • School supplies
  • Children’s toys

This outreach forms part of the Redemptorist Philippines H.O.P.E. Mission – Mindanao Earthquake Response, an initiative serving communities affected by the Mindanao earthquake. Guided by the H.O.P.E. Mission Pillars, it is a joint mission of the Redemptorist Province of Cebu and the Redemptorist Vice Province of Manila, bringing holistic care through humanitarian assistance, psychosocial support, and spiritual accompaniment.
