The Redemptorist Retreat Ministry organized the Alphonsian Accompaniment Workshop for confreres and lay partners held at St. Clement’s Retreat House – Iloilo.
This workshop is divided into 2 parts. Part 1 focuses on rediscovering the spirituality of St. Alphonsus Liguori, tapping on his extensive writings on prayer and God’s love. Later, the participants were facilitated to appropriate the Alphonsian spirituality to the accompaniment ministry. Part 2 focused on developing initial Modules which can be used on various groups and needs.
The workshop produced “Il Cuore” or “The Heart” as the essential core of Alphonsian Spirituality rooted from what St.Alphonsus taught us that “The heart of man is the paradise of God…”. This core principle then provides a paradigm for retreat accompaniment in the Alphonsian way.
A second phase will be scheduled sometime to evaluate how these new modules based on Il Cuore can be developed further to mould and shape a Retreat Accompaniment program with a distinct Alphonsian flavor.
The event was facilitated by Ms. Cynthia Concepcion-Baga of GAMOT Resources. Fr. Ben Ma, CSsR was also invited to share his wisdom from years of experience in the accompaniment ministry.
